Forty bags of rubbish were collected in just two hours when Council staff and volunteers took part in a clean-up of Kirkintilloch skatepark earlier this month.

The Community Protection Team - most of whom were not on duty but were volunteering - joined local residents and Place Police Officer Alison Lang to tidy up the area which is popular with local families.

Council Leader Rhondda Geekie thanked everyone for their efforts. She said, “The area around the skatepark, viaduct and Luggie Park are very well used by local people.

“It is important that we look after our facilities and this clean-up was a great opportunity for us to work together to ensure it is kept in good order.

“At a recent public meeting concerns were raised about some anti-social behaviour around the skatepark so this was a chance to do something positive. We will continue to work with the Police and local people to make the very best of the assets we have on our doorstep.”
