hillhead and harestanesResidents of four East Dunbartonshire communities are being asked to share what issues are most important to them, to help support actions and priorities for the next five years.

The East Dunbartonshire Community Planning Partnership is committed to reducing inequality and targeting resources where they are needed most.

As a result, ‘the place’ approach is being used to work within four areas that have been identified using local and national data – Harestanes and Hillhead, Twechar, Lennoxtown and Auchinairn.

The Community Planning partners – led by the Council – work with individuals, groups and organisations in each of the four communities to improve provision and ensure that local people are central to the decision making process.

lennoxtownKey to this approach is the locality plans which identify the key area of focus over the next five years. The plans will look at addressing the main issues of social inequality, set out ways to bridge gaps and implement agreed actions and priorities.

These plans are being refreshed and local people are encouraged to have their say via a survey which will allow the partnership to understand the issues people in the four communities are facing and the current gaps in services they are experiencing.

The survey which will run until 22 February 2022 can be found on the Council website.

Councillor Vaughan Moody, Joint Leader of the Council, said, “The way in which we support our communities is changing to ensure our focus and resources are targeted on the issues that matter most to people.

auchinaien“We want our approach to be community led and this means we need to hear from those living and working in each of the four communities. We want individuals, groups and organisations to have their say and help to shape what the future looks like. Only by working together will we bridge the gaps.”

Councillor Andrew Polson, Joint Leader of the Council, added, “The Community Planning partnership want to ensure that a community led and tailored approach is taken to solving issues within each area over the next five years.

twechar“That’s why it’s important to complete the survey, we want to hear from you, your views and the things that affect your community.”

For groups and organisations, or even family and friends a Bletherbox tool is also available online which encourages conversation about the consultation. For anyone hosting a ‘Blether’ the submissions will supplement the survey and gives people an additional opportunity to discuss their views on what’s important to them, the challenges they are facing and future opportunities.
