Members of the public are being asked for their views on how the community justice system is managed in East Dunbartonshire.
Comments given through the survey, which has been set up by the East Dunbartonshire Community Planning Partnership (CPP), will help to form the local authority’s Community Justice Outcomes Improvement Plan 2017-18.
Opinions are being sought on topics such as concerns about crime, sentencing options for convicted offenders, and what people feel the local priorities are for community justice.
Community Justice is a collection of agencies and services which manage offenders, prevent offending and reduce reoffending and the harm it causes – to promote social inclusion, citizenship and desistance.
The one year plan sets out how the firm base established to help create safer and stronger communities in East Dunbartonshire can be maintained. The plan provides a high level framework of outcomes, priorities and specific actions for 2017/2018.
The Community Justice Outcomes Improvement Plan will support and promote work to make East Dunbartonshire a safer, fairer and more inclusive place in which offending is prevented and reduced by addressing underlying causes, and a place which manages and supports those who have committed offences to reintegrate into the community.

Councillor Rhondda Geekie, Chair of the East Dunbartonshire CPP, said, “This plan sets out our vision for community justice in the local area, and it is important that we gather as many views as possible from people who live and work here, as well as any interested organisations.
“Our aim is to ensure that East Dunbartonshire remains a safe place for people and communities.”
