Mugdock Country Park has introduced car park donation facilities to give people the opportunity to contribute towards ongoing improvements.

Four posts have been installed in the main car park at Mugdock and it is hoped they could be rolled out across the park if visitors respond positively.

Councillor Eric Gotts, Chair of Mugdock Country Park Joint Management Committee, said, "We recently upgraded all five car parks so, initially, the donations will go towards the cost of those improvements.

"The posts - which are emptied daily - are a way of raising much-needed funds for projects at the park without having to look at alternative measures of raising income.

"I know people from East Dunbartonshire and beyond value the park and its wonderful attractions highly, so I hope they will help support the good work taking place with any donations they can afford."

Meanwhile, the Christmas Fayre and lights switch-on take place on Friday 25 November - from 5pm-8pm.

The lights will be switched on by Cllr Gotts at 6pm and there will be a range of attractions - including children's rides, local choir, face-painting, arts and crafts, and late-night shopping.

In addition, the ‘Friends of Mugdock’ scheme will be launched. Becoming a member will help to support the park in future developments and also provide the card holder with exclusive benefits within all the businesses.

And the ever-popular pantomime returns again this year, with a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk. Tickets are on sale now and selling fast.

* The Mugdock Strategy 2015-2020 is currently underway - aimed at increasing income-generating opportunities while continuing to provide facilities and services to visitors.

The park is funded by East Dunbartonshire and Stirling Councils, with additional support from the Mugdock Trust charity.

Visit Scotland recently gave the park a four-star rating and a positive review following a visit in August, with work already underway to secure a coveted five-star award.

A new visitor centre and shop were opened earlier this year as part of a wider redevelopment of the offices and meeting rooms, comprising a total investment of £60,000.

East Dunbartonshire Council also invested £25,000 in a new adventure trail aimed at children aged eight and over.
