Closure arrangements for Christmas and New YearAs the countdown to Christmas begins residents are being urged to check out the changes to essential Council services over the holiday season.

Bins, customer services, libraries, leisure centres and arts venues will all have revised opening and operating hours and these are now published on the Council’s website - Festive information and changes to services | East Dunbartonshire Council

The Council’s waste service will not be operational on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, 1 January 2024 and 2 January 2024.

Possible delays in the service provision are expected during this busy period, so residents are advised to leave bins on the pavement until the collection has taken place, which may be later in the day than usual.

To ensure a safe and happy festive period, the Council will also be undertaking a range of initiatives. Community wardens will be out and about throughout December assisting the public, providing reassurance, deterring crime, supporting businesses, and helping to keep streets safe.

With additional patrols in place from 1 December right up to 23 December, including late night shopping hours, the Community Safety team will also be working closely with Police Scotland throughout the festive season.

Council leader Gordan Low, said, "We have thoroughly planned our service delivery during the festive season and we'll be working to ensure that disruption to services during this time is kept to a minimum.

"I'd also like to reassure residents that if they have an urgent need there will be Council employees and resources available to provide assistance. Emergency help with Council services will be available at all times by calling 0300 123 4510."
