christmas snowmenSince the talented musicians and singers from East Dunbartonshire's schools can't play to a sold out Royal Concert Hall this year, they decided to bring one of their favourite numbers to an even wider audience.

The ever popular annual Christmas Gala Concert has been shelved for 2020 but some of the children and young people of the Secondary Schools Orchestra and Primary Schools Choir have still been busy rehearsing.

Eighteen primary school choirs (P7s) provided the vocals to the Shakin' Stevens classic 'Merry Christmas Everyone' while 68 secondary school pupils played in the orchestra with support from their Instrumental Music Instructors.

And by the magic of technology, they have performed together on video for family, friends and to spread cheer

Joint Council Leader Andrew Polson loved the video and said, "What a fantastic display of talent and what an utterly joyous performance from our talented youngsters. If ever we needed some festive cheer it is now and I challenge you to watch without a smile. Well done to all our boys and girls."

Joint Council Leader Vaughan Moody added, "Our Instrumental Music Team does a wonderful job each year and the Christmas Concert is always a triumph. Once again they and the young people have pulled out all the stops and are not letting 2020 get the better of them. Thanks to them all for bringing us this absolute gem."
