Boghead Wood improvements

If you go down to Boghead Wood today you’re sure of a big surprise after the area was given an upgrade to improve the visitor experience.

Boghead Wood, a haven for wildlife just off Boghead Road in Lenzie, has undergone an overhaul to improve access.

The improvements, carried out by East Dunbartonshire Council’s Streetscene Technical Support team, include drainage works and the creation of a raised causeway path in the low lying wetter sections of the path through the wood.

The major footpath running through Boghead Wood has also been resurfaced with ULTITREC, a recycled material which was chosen for being sustainable, low cost and because it gives a slightly loose finish to provide grip during icy conditions.

Councillor Billy Hendry, Convener of the Council’s Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee, said, "This has been a great project that will make it easier for residents and visitors alike to access the woods and also adjacent areas such as Lenzie Moss and Christine’s Way.

“Areas of natural beauty such as Boghead Wood such be enjoyed by everyone and hopefully through improving accessibility more people can be encouraged and will feel confident in getting outdoors and improving their well-being.”
