Friday, 23 December, 2016

At its meeting on Thursday 22 December Council agreed to proceed to the next stage with the refurbishment of two buildings in Bishopbriggs.  The decision will see the War Memorial Hall close for its refurbishment to take place in the first few months of 2017.

The Library and Temporary Hub will then decant to the newly refurbished War Memorial Hall and be based in that building from late Spring whilst the refurbishment and development works are carried out on the Library and Hub building.

Depute Leader of the Council, Billy Hendry confirmed, “By staggering the works on these two facilities, we will ensure that library and Hub services are continually delivered to the people of Bishopbriggs throughout these exciting developments.  We have also worked with those community groups who currently let the War Memorial Hall to help them to find appropriate alternative accommodation throughout the refurbishment and library relocation.”

The timescales agreed for this combined £3 million investment in the area will see the completed War Memorial Hall and new Library and Hub building available to the local community in Autumn 2017.
