Bishopbriggs Library and Community Hub, the new home for Council, library and cultural services in the town, was officially opened by Provost Alan Brown on Thursday 31 May following a £2M investment by the Council.

Located in the heart of Bishopbriggs on Kirkintilloch Road, it brings a wide range of services under one roof including Council Tax, benefits, registration, licensing, housing, general Council enquiries, library services and arts and events.

The fantastic facility, which has had a full refurbishment and upgrade, contains a multi-purpose room for children's activities, reading groups, digital learning activities and arts workshops. It also has private rooms for confidential business and an enhanced heritage space which incorporates the Thomas Muir Museum.

The on-site customer services team will make it easier for residents to access and get information about a variety of different Council services and make payments for them in just one visit.

Commenting on the opening Provost Brown said, “I am delighted to see this newly refurbished building now open and ready for all the community to use and benefit from.

“We have delivered a modern, functional and vibrant facility for the people of Bishopbriggs and the surrounding area.

“The results of the work are tremendous and there is something for everyone in here – from the very young to our more mature residents.

“From the outside the building looks wonderful and when you come inside the very impressive interior is almost unrecognisable from how it was before.

“We have brought together Council, library and cultural services in an exciting and innovative way, and made it easier for residents to access information and a wide range of services in one central location.”

Sandy Marshall, Chair of East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust said, “The stunning transformation of the library reflects the commitment of the Trust in promoting library and cultural services in Bishopbriggs and the surrounding areas.

“The library offers public WiFi, laptops for learning, a multi-purpose room for various activities as well as a host of new services. I would urge everyone to come along and see for themselves just what has been created here."

Customer Services will be open 9am to 6pm on Monday to Thursday and 9am until 5pm every Friday.

Library Services will be available from 10am to 8pm on Monday to Thursday and 10am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday.
