Amongst 4th year pupils 96% were awarded five or more National 4 passes whilst 78% obtained five or more passes at National 5, an increase of 2% on 2016 results.

Of the pupils in S5, the number who achieved one or more Highers rose by 3% to 88%, those who gained three or more Highers rose by 1% to 72% and pupils awarded five or more Highers rose by a massive 10% to 52%.

Pupils in 6th year achieved greater Higher results than those the year before, with 76% gaining three or more Highers, an increase of 10%.  And the number of S6 pupils achieving one or more Advanced Highers also rose by a staggering 11% to 43%.

Bishopbriggs pupilsHeadteacher Gordon Moulsdale is absolutely delighted with these results and is very proud of all the pupils and staff at Bishopbriggs Academy. He said, “Bishopbriggs Academy's exam results have been extremely strong for a number of years with last year's outstanding performance across all year groups the best ever.  With such improvements in attainment levels, there was always the concern that things might dip slightly this year.  However, all of our tracking suggested that there was every likelihood that we could surpass those record levels.  Our young people and our staff have been working incredibly hard all year and we are so delighted that their efforts have paid off so spectacularly.”

He continued, “There are many fantastic individual success stories, particularly relating to young people overcoming adversity.  All the headline statistics from S4 through to S6 are hugely impressive but I suppose the most astonishing one of all is that 52% of our S5 pupils passed 5 or more Highers. Our results will unquestionably be amongst the very best in Scotland and we are immensely proud of the achievements of our young people and staff.'

Convener of the Education Committee, Councillor Mohrag Fischer, went along to the school to congratulate Mr Moulsdale, the teachers and pupils.  She said, “Over recent years pupils at Bishopbriggs Academy have achieved outstanding exam results and it really is quite an achievement to have improved on the fantastic results achieved in 2016.

“There is a great atmosphere at Bishopbriggs Academy at the start of this new academic year, with everyone enthusiastic about working hard to ensure more great results for 2018.  For those who have left school and are now pursuing further education, apprenticeships or jobs, I would like to extend my congratulations to them and wish them all the very best for the future.”
