Autism friendly sessions for children have been launched at Charlie’s Big Adventure soft play in Bishopbriggs.

The play facility, which is based in the Leisuredrome leisure centre, has designated two hours every Thursday to these sessions.

Excessive noise will be kept to a minimum, while the radio and tannoy system will be switched off inside Charlie’s. The sessions will take place between 5 and 7pm and will be open to everyone, with customers being informed that the sessions are autism friendly when they arrive at the reception.

Feedback from customers about the autism friendly sessions is being welcomed so that staff can make sure that they run as smoothly as possible.

Councillor Rhondda Geekie, Chair of the East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership, said, “This is just one example of the great work going on locally to support people who are affected by ASD through the East Dunbartonshire Autism Strategy. Charlie’s is a fantastic facility for children and we hope that these autism friendly sessions will prove to be popular.”
