As part of the fight to prevent the continued spread of Covid-19 in our communities, an Asymptomatic Testing Centre is opening in Auchinairn today, Thursday 4 March.
Asymptomatic Testing Centres are being established across Greater Glasgow & Clyde and are targeting communities that show persistent higher than average rates of infection and members of the community who have no symptoms of Covid-19 are encouraged to attend.
Joint Council Leader Andrew Polson explained, “The purpose of these community testing centres is to identify anyone who does not have symptoms of Covid-19 but who has the virus and is spreading it to family, loved ones and the wider community without knowing.
“By identifying these people and supporting them and their households to immediately self-isolate and stop the spread, we can help to bring infection rates down and speed up the timescale for being able to move out of the highest levels of restrictions.”
Anyone who does test positive through this community testing programme will be provided with support to help them and their families to self-isolate. Full details of the testing centre and how to access support if you test positive is available in the Covid-19 section of the Council website.
Joint Council Leader Vaughan Moody added, “We are encouraging all those living and working in the Auchinairn and Woodhill areas to attend the testing centre in Auchinairn Community and Early Years Centre – by getting a test you can protect your community and help to stop the spread.
“Testing centres like this, for those without symptoms, are being established all over Scotland, with support from Army colleagues, who will lead the operation of the centre in the initial weeks. We are grateful to them and to all our Council colleagues who have been involved.”
The Asymptomatic Testing Centre is located in the hall at Auchinairn Community and Early Years Centre and will operate Monday to Friday from 12 noon until 7pm. No appointment is necessary and as many people as possible from the Auchinairn and Woodhill Communities are being encouraged to attend.
Anyone who has Covid-19 symptoms should not attend this asymptomatic community testing centre. They should book a Covid-19 test for those with symptoms in the usual way through the NHS Inform website.
