Additional Easter Holiday dates for Auchinairn Nursery

Date:
Wednesday, 31 January, 2018

For the children who attend Auchinairn Nursery, the Easter break holds more excitement than usual as they get ready to return to a brand new Early Learning and Childcare Centre in April.

The new Auchinairn community facility which will accommodate the Early Learning and Childcare Centre and a new Community Centre will be opening its doors on Wednesday 4 April 2018.

To ensure that the transition to the new building  goes as smoothly as possible for the nursery children, the Easter break has been extended so that Council and nursery staff can make the move and get the new facility ready.

Across East Dunbartonshire, full day nurseries will be closed from Friday 30 March to Monday 2 April (inclusive), opening again on Tuesday, 3 April, but children moving to the new Auchinairn Early Learning and Childcare Centre will have an extra two days off.  The Auchinairn Nursery will close on Thursday 29 March and the new facility will open to children on Wednesday 4 April.

Depute Chief Executive, Education, People & Business, Ann Davie, said, “Whilst everyone is very excited about the opening of the new building, it is extremely important that very young children experience as smooth a transition as possible.  To achieve this, our employees need the time and space to ensure that when the doors open for the first time, the children are met with an environment that is completely ready and welcoming.  These extra days added to the Easter Break will allow our teams to get in and be fully prepared for the children arriving on Wednesday 4 April.”

Ann Davie continued, “Local community groups and organisations are also looking forward to relocating to the new facility in April – its going to be a fantastic meeting point and resource for people of all ages in Auchinairn.”
