Local residents reporting pest control issues are being offered a more streamlined service via East Dunbartonshire Council's website and the national myaccount scheme.image of someone using a pc

The Council provides a service for the removal of common pests such as wasps, rats, mice (inside the home), insects and squirrels.

The latest improvements now mean that once a pest control report has been submitted online, a case is automatically created in the environmental health system and is assigned to an officer.

Customers can then use myaccount - a free and secure online service for accessing public services online in Scotland - to check the progress of their cases.

You can register by visiting the www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk homepage and clicking on the myaccount button.

Councillor Gordan Low, Leader of the Council, said, "The pest control service has been streamlined - increasing effectiveness and providing residents with progress information via myaccount.

"I would encourage people to sign up for myaccount if they get a chance. It's a nationwide service which aims to increase secure access to local services - making it easier for local residents and authorities.

"For example, when you sign up for myaccount it means many forms are automatically filled in. It also helps to track the progress of cases and allows you to save online forms for completion later."

Already in East Dunbartonshire, myaccount is helping people to fill out forms for a number of services, including:

  • Special uplifts
  • Missed bins
  • Fly-tipping
  • Abandoned vehicles
  • Litter picking and street cleaning
  • Dog fouling
  • Flooding
  • Gritting
  • Roads issues.

In the coming months it is planned that more online services will be automated - streamlining processes and improving the customer service experience.

Signing up for myaccount also means you don't have to re-register with local public sector services if you move to a new part of Scotland.

  • The Council provides a service for the removal of common pests such as wasps, rats, mice (inside the home), insects and squirrels.
  • The Council does not deal with birds, bats, bees, ants, foxes and mice (outside the home). If you have a problem with these types of pests we may be able to offer advice or you could contact a private pest control firm.
  • Treatment charges:
Rats, insects, squirrels and mice (inside the home) - £40 inc VAT
    Wasps - £25 inc VAT.
