As part of a suite of measures to help local people through the cost of living crisis, local organisations can apply for up to £1000 to support their plans to offer warm spaces to those in need in their communities.

In launching the application process, Council Leader Gordan Low said, “The cost of living crisis in one of our biggest challenges and we have allocated £2.1 million to fund a range of initiatives to support those most in need in our communities.

“This Warm Space grant fund was agreed at our recent Council meeting and we have already begun the process of engaging with our Community Planning Partners and local organisations to develop Warm Spaces right across the area.

“Warm Spaces will be places where those who may struggle to heat their homes during the day can go, with different organisations offering activities, warm refreshments and advice or signposting to where additional support may be available.”

An online application process is now open for organisations to apply to the grant fund and details of eligibility and how to apply can be found on a dedicated Warm Space Application page on the Council website.

There is also a detailed Cost of Living support page on the website with details of all the support available through the Council and EDLC Trust and signposting to a wide range of support that is available locally.
