Milngavie Community Hub - Engagement on next steps

Four information sessions were held on Wednesday 26 June to share the next considerations for Milngavie Community Hub.  A presentation (attached) outlined the site considerations in the town following the feedback that was received at the end of 2017.

The core services that would form Milngavie Community Hub have been defined as the Library and Customer Service functions and the additional functions of the Hub are informed by the selected location.

The site analysis of seven considered locations identifies Milngavie Town Hall and Lillie Art Gallery site as the preferred site as it has the least space constraints, does not diminish town centre car parking, has better access to public transport and the precinct, and it lies within the footprint of the town centre in the local plan and town centre plan.

The Milngavie Community Hub project team has considered incorporating the functional space from the Community Education Centre into a Milngavie Community Hub at the Town Hall site and two options have been prepared to illustrate what this might look like.

The attached display boards show the site selection considerations, and two options for a two storey development of the town hall site to include the space described in the paragraph above.

Feedback is being collated on this approach for a Milngavie Community Hub on the Town Hall site, to include the Town Hall, Lesser Hall, Lillie Art Gallery, Library, Customer Services and the letting space from the Community Education Centre (with the exception of the gym hall, given the investment in the replacement Allander Sports Centre and the available capacity in the Town Hall and Lesser Hall and sports facilities in local schools).

Feedback from the information sessions has been captured and any additional comments can be sent to: milngaviecommunityhub@eastdunbarton.gov.uk until 27 September 2019.

All feedback provided will inform the next stages for the delivery of this project.
