Mary’s 100th Birthday Celebrations

Provost Gary Pews attended a special presentation at Kenmure Parish Church in Bishopbriggs to congratulate Mary McLellan on her 100th birthday.  Mary’s family, friends and the church congregation also took part in the celebrations.

Originally from Glasgow, Mary has spent most of her life in Bishopbriggs and she continues to attend Kenmure Parish Church when able.  She met her husband Charles whilst working at a factory making parts for aeroplanes during the second world war and the couple went on to have two daughters.  Charles’ work took the family to Spain and the Pacific Islands where Mary set up Sunday School classes for the local children.

Mary now has five grandchildren and five great grandchildren and says her secret to a long life is having “a good outlook on life and faith.”

Provost Pews said, “It is always an honour to be part of the celebrations when one of our residents reaches their 100th birthday.  Mary is a very special lady and it was a pleasure to share in her big day.”
