Springfield Play Area, Bishopbriggs

East Dunbartonshire Council is currently considering the creation of a new play area within Springfield Park off Muir Street/Springfield Road in Bishopbriggs.

Springfield Park currently contains two play facilities both of which are over 20 years old. Although these play areas have provided a valuable resource to the Bishopbriggs community for many years, the location would benefit from a full refurbishment.

Springfield Play Area 1 (which is located closer to Callieburn Road) has been installed at a fairly isolated location and cannot be easily seen by residents. The Council believes this location is no longer suitable for a modern play area facility.

Springfield Play Area 2 (off Muir Street) is located in an area that is very wet at various times of the year.

The Council is proposing to remove both existing play areas and reinstate the land at both locations. It then intends to construct one new facility with modern play equipment and safety surfacing which will be installed within the highlighted area of the map, included in the survey below. A proper access path leading to the facility will also be created. The new facility will be constructed in a raised manner so that it can be used throughout the year without fear of drainage issues affecting play provision.
