Lennoxtown Greenspace Improvement Project Consultation

Station Road park proposals - The proposals seek to create a well- connected place that builds upon the landscape qualities of the site. The design includes "nodes" areas of mown grass grass that can be utilised for other interventions, should they be supported, and funding is available.

This consultation ended on 27 June 2023.

Thanks to everyone who completed the survey. All the responses were analysed and will help to progress the project through the next stages of development, subject to funding being made available. A copy of the analysis of the consultation comments is now available.

We want your views on proposals to regenerate two underused greenspaces in Lennoxtown.

The existing red blaes pitches at Station Road Park and Ferguson Park have been identified as being in poor condition and underutilised.

The Lennoxtown Greenspace Improvement project – fully funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund - aims to create parks that are more attractive, biodiverse and used spaces for the benefit of the people of Lennoxtown and the surrounding areas.

The principles of the designs are that they allow for incremental improvement to occur, with an initial concentration on creating simple, attractive, well-connected spaces that make the most of the natural characteristics of the sites.

We want the views of people who live in, work in, and visit Lennoxtown to help shape the future of these greenspaces by completing a short online survey. The survey will be open from Monday 3 July until the end of Monday 31 July  and your responses and feedback will help us refine the designs.

Ferguson park proposals - The proposals seek to create a well- connected place that builds upon the landscape qualities of the site. The design includes "nodes" areas of mown grass that can be utilised for other interventions, should they be supported, and funding is available. The proposals for Station Road Park include an improved entrance, a grass pitch, new seating and paths, woodland planting, wildflower meadow creation and a widening of the existing railway path.

Plans for Ferguson Park include similar elements along with a potential footbridge link over the Glazert Water to link the park to Milton Road.

Other design elements could include sculptural items suitable for an outdoor gym or environmental play, climbing boulders and artwork included within the path design.

The connections to the railway path are important to the designs and the new and improved paths are based on observations from routes that are already informally taken by people in the area.

Both parks have a high likelihood of flooding, which has informed the designs so that any future uses should be sufficiently robust to withstand reasonably predictable conditions.

Please view the designs and then complete the short survey below with your views before the end of Monday 31 July.
