Have your say on our Draft Food Growing Strategy

Do you have an appetite for helping community food growing opportunities to flourish in East Dunbartonshire?

Following a series of public engagement events in 2017 and 2018, work has been underway to develop East Dunbartonshire's draft Food Growing Strategy, in partnership with Greenspace Scotland.

The Draft Strategy outlines the benefits of engaging in food growing activities and our approach to delivering more opportunities for local communities.

We want to hear your views, with consultation being carried out from 15 April to 9 June 2019.

The Draft Strategy identifies potential sites for allotments and other food growing provision, as well as setting out procedures to support community groups starting their own 'Grow Your Own' journey.

It also sets out a framework for realising a vision for a community growing network over the next five years, in partnership with key Council services and other organisations.

You can view our interactive map, and help shape the future of food growing opportunities in East Dunbartonshire through a number of methods:

  • Complete our online survey at the end of this Story Map  
  • Pick up a response form from libraries and Community Hubs, and post to Sustainability Policy Team, East Dunbartonshire Council, Southbank House, Strathkelvin Place, Kirkintilloch, G66 1XQ
  • Drop in to one of the following sessions, where officers will be available to answer your questions and discuss the draft Strategy in further detail:

All comments received will be reviewed to inform the final Strategy, which is being developed in response to the statutory duties set out in the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015.
