You may be aware that East Dunbartonshire Council has been undertaking work to prepare a local Food Growing Strategy. The aim of the strategy is to give local people the opportunity to grow their own fruit, vegetables and flowers in allotments and other growing spaces such as community gardens and orchards. This is also part of EDC’s commitments under the Community Empowerment Act. National charity greenspace Scotland has been supporting EDC colleagues with this work and our partnership is ongoing.
The next stage in the process is to hold local engagement events to share information on potential growing sites at the following events:

The consultation for the Food Growing Strategy which closed on 22/03/2018 informed the development of the draft Food Growing Strategy by exploring priorities, local food growing demand and potential food growing sites; the public consultation for the draft Strategy is due to commence 15/04/2019 for a period of 8 weeks.
