Employee News 2021, Issue 53 - Christmas and New Year Pay Arrangements

As the festive season is fast approaching, I would like to let you know about your pay dates for the forthcoming holiday period. Due to the Christmas shutdown and banks being closed over the holiday period some regular pay dates have been moved.

The pay frequencies that will be affected by the closure period this year are:

  • Weekly paid employees who are due to be paid on Thursday 16 December will receive a further three weeks basic pay, reverting to weekly pay on Thursday 13 Jan 2022.
  • Teachers who are normally paid on the 28th of the month will be paid on Tuesday 21 December 2021.

Please see details below of Christmas and New Year pay arrangements for the holiday period of December 2021 and January 2022:

Please be aware that all discrepancies in pays received in December must be reported to Employee & Payroll Services no later than noon on Monday 20 December.

Many of you are aware, but to confirm, payroll returns (e.g. overtime, expenses, etc) must be received in Employee Services by noon on the dates indicated in the table above. It would be appreciated, however, if returns could be made as early as possible.

Returns received after input deadlines will not be processed until the next available pay period. Due to the number of payruns being processed within a very short timescale, it will not be possible to make advance payments due to late information and deadlines must be observed if employees are to be paid correctly and timeously.

If you require support to achieve these deadlines, please contact the Employee & Payroll Services team as soon as possible (ServiceSupport@eastdunbarton.gov.uk).

I hope this information is helpful and if you have any queries regarding these arrangements or specific queries in relation to pay dates, please contact your line manager directly in the first instance.

Thank you
