Employee News 2021, Issue 50 - Provost Alan Brown

It is with great sadness that I need to share with you the news that Provost Alan Brown died suddenly at his home early on Saturday 13 November.

Provost Brown was elected to the Bishopbriggs South Ward in 2017 and was honoured to be elected as Provost for this term. Prior to that he had been elected to the Cadder and Lang Ward in 1999 where he served as councillor until 2007.

Our thoughts are with Catherine, his wife of over 30 years, and his two sons, Alasdair and Andrew, at this devastating time for them.

An online book of condolence is being prepared and will be available on the Council website later today. Following Remembrance Sunday commemorative events, our flags at Council Headquarters will now be lowered to half-mast as a mark of respect.

Our news release with details of this sad news is available on the Council website.

Thank you

Gerry Cornes

Chief Executive
