Employee News 2021, Issue 07 - COVID-19: Latest Update – Stay at Home Measures Remain in Place

Lockdown Measures Remain in Place

The Scottish Government confirmed this week (Tuesday 16 February) that the current stay at home lockdown measures to manage COVID-19 remain in place.  It was also confirmed that a roadmap out of the current lockdown would be published next Tuesday (23 February).

Update on Schools

In line with previous indications, it was confirmed that children in early learning and childcare (ELC) and in P1 – P3 would return full-time to classrooms on Monday 22 February and that there would also be a limited return for some S4-S6 pupils in secondary who had practical course work requirements to complete for SQA qualifications.  Communications on these arrangements are being issued directly from schools, which also remain open for the children of key workers with no alternative childcare.

It was confirmed in a Scottish Government news release that home learning will continue for the majority for the time being and that it would be unlikely that there would be any further return to schools before 15 March. The next review in relation to schools will take place in two weeks on Tuesday 2 March.

Vaccination Update

The vaccination programme continues to be rolled out with two mass vaccination centres operating in East Dunbartonshire at Allander Leisure Centre in Bearsden and Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre.

NHS Scotland strongly recommends you get the vaccine when offered it and there is information on the vaccine and the invitation process on the NHS Inform website.  There are also reminders that even if you have been vaccinated you must continue to follow the Scottish Government COVID-19 FACTS guidance:

Face coverings should be worn where advised
Avoid crowds
Clean hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser
Two metre distance should be maintained
Self-isolate and book a test if you or a member of your household develop symptoms

It is timely to remind everyone that it remains critical that all the workplace safety measures we have in place are followed at all times.

Further updates will be issued as these become available.  In the meantime take care and stay safe.

Thank you
