Employee News 2021, Issue 03 - COVID-19: Latest Covid-19 Update

Lockdown Extended

The Scottish Government announced last week (Tuesday 19 January) that the current stay at home lockdown measures to manage Covid-19 will remain in place until the middle of February 2021, with a further review on Tuesday 2 February.

Schools therefore remain only open for the children of key workers with no alternative childcare with remote learning continuing for the majority of pupils. Those able to work from home must continue to do so and, as always, full details on the guidance can be found on the on the Scottish Government Website.

Mass Vaccination

Plans are underway to establish vaccination centres in all six local authority areas of the NHSGGS Health Board area for the rollout of community mass vaccination. The locations have now been confirmed and there will be two centres in East Dunbartonshire, located in Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre and the Allander Leisure Centre in Bearsden.

The Scottish Government has also launched its latest roll up your sleeve vaccination campaign, including a short video to encourage us all to ensure that we get the vaccine when we are invited to do so. Vaccination is already underway for target groups including the over 80s and frontline NHS and social care workers. All vaccination is strictly by appointment only and there will be more information on the community mass vaccination roll out in the coming days and weeks.

COVID Safety Measures

It is critical that all employees continue to follow the Scottish Government Guidance and workplace safety measures in place. Continuing to ensure compliance with PPE, social distancing and good hand hygiene continue to support minimising and mitigating the prevalence of COVID in the community.
