Employee News 2021, Issue 02 - COVID-19: Further Updated Guidance 2021

The Scottish Government this week updated its guidance on staying at home and introduced a further six new lockdown rules to further tackle the continued spread of COVID-19 across the country.

As advised in Employee News 01/2021 following the Scottish Government update last week, to minimise the risk of spreading the virus, you must stay at home as much as possible.  By law, in a level 4 area, you can only leave your home (or garden) for an essential purpose.

The six additional areas in the updated guidance include:

  • further restrictions on click and collect services for non-essential shops
  • further restrictions in relation to take away food
  • no consumption of alcohol in public paces
  • reinforced emphasis on working from home where possible
  • further guidance on home maintenance for essential works/maintenance only
  • emphasis on staying at home and only leaving/staying out for essential purposes (to be consistent with approach in the rest of the UK).

Full details on the guidance, including these additional measures can be found on the on the Scottish Government Website, which was updated this week on Wednesday 13 January.

As previously advised, everyone who is able to work from home must continue do so. Management Teams will continue to review risk assessments in line with current guidance and consider ways to minimise contact and attendance wherever possible, and as always, updates to working arrangements will be communicated locally.

The Scottish Government has also been reinforcing its FACTS campaign in support of the latest guidance, which the Council is sharing through its social media channels:

Face covering should be worn where advised
Avoid crowds
Clean hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol-based sanitiser
Two meter distance should be maintained
Self-isolate and book a test if you or a member of your household develop symptoms

Please speak to your line manager at any stage should you have concerns or contact the HR Team on the reporting line 0141 574 5535.
