Employee News 2020, Issue 87 - COVID-19 Reporting – Christmas and New Year Period

As part of the Christmas response to COVID-19 we have reporting arrangements in place for all employees.

Firstly, it is essential to remind you that you must not come to work in any of the following circumstances:

  • You have covid-19 symptoms
  • A member of your household has Covid-19 symptoms
  • You have booked a Covid-19 test
  • You are waiting for Covid-19 test results
  • You or anyone in your household have a positive Covid-19 test result.

In all of these circumstances you must self-isolate for 10 days from the onset of symptoms.

Reporting arrangements 25 December – 4 January inclusive.

You must inform your line manager immediately by phone

AND

You must then inform the HR & OD Team on 0141 574 5535 or on 07825 753 813.

This applies 7 days a week, Monday to Sunday.

You should not text or email to report.

It is important to highlight that there are a number of questions that we need to ask when a positive case is reported. This is to ensure that we take precautionary action where required in advance of any potential Test & Protect contact being made. When calling, you will be asked about:

  • Details around your test, isolation and when symptoms began.
  • The last time you were in the workplace.
  • Whether you followed all PPE in place and cleaning regimes.
  • Whether you have shared a car with a colleague before, during or after work.
  • If you have had close contact with anyone in the course of the working days 48 hours before symptoms began.
  • As a reminder, close contact is defined as:

o People who are within 1 metre and face to face with the case for any length of time
o People who are within 1 metre for one minute or longer without face-to-face contact
o People who are within 1-2 metres of the infected individual for any more than 15 minutes cumulatively.

It is essential that you are clear with the HR&OD Team representatives/your line manager on the accuracy of the close contact questions and the various settings that you might have been in whilst working with /meeting them.

The Council continues to follow all Public Health Guidance and take action accordingly. In all cases, an assessment of risk is undertaken ensuring the safety of all employees and other individuals where applicable.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to speak with your line manager.

Thank you
