Employee News 2020, Issue 85 - Joint Leaders’ Christmas Message to the Workforce

Covid-19 has been the most challenging experience many of us has ever faced, impacting every aspect of our home and working lives. It is fair to say that 2020 has truly been a year like no other, and as Joint Leaders of East Dunbartonshire Council, we wanted to express our sincerest thanks and appreciation to each and every employee.

From the frontline to the back office, to those carrying out new roles and responsibilities and those rising to the very different challenges of having to work from home, we would like to acknowledge and recognise the fantastic job you have done and the effort and commitment you have demonstrated to keep our Council services running and to bring in new services where these have been required.

In local authorities we too have 24/7 responders, emergency services, and vital and critical services to support the most vulnerable in our communities. It takes an amazing workforce to ensure that buildings, schools and facilities remain open where Covid-19 restrictions permit this and to respond to customer needs and enquiries – and that amazing workforce is each and every one of you.

Your dedication and commitment in this most challenging of years is what has ensured that our bins continue to be emptied, our young people continue to be educated, our environment is maintained, our residents are kept informed and help and support is delivered where it is needed and when it is needed.

We would like to wish you and your families a happy and safe Christmas and a more hopeful New Year, with particular thanks to those of you who will also be working over the festive period. We look forward to facing the new challenges and opportunities that 2021 will bring.

Thank you
