Employee News 2020, Issue 65 - “Safety at the Heart of Everything We Do!” - Employee Zone: New Health & Safety Section

Health and Safety is an absolute priority to ensure that our roles can be carried out in a safe manner.  We have today published a new Health & Safety section within our Employee Zone on the Council website.

The new section has six key areas, with information and links to guidance documents and forms, policies and procedures that are in place to keep us all safe in the workplace.

The six areas are:

  • Standards and Procedures
  • Policies and Guidance
  • Health & Safety Campaigns
  • Information for Duty Holders
  • Reporting and Forms
  • Wellbeing.

As new policies and guidance are developed, or current documents are updated, they will be added to the relevant sections.

I would encourage you all to familiarise yourselves with the information relevant to your work area.  In particular, we should all be aware of the incident reporting and near miss reporting forms in the Reporting and Forms section.  It is essential that these are completed and submitted as soon as possible after any incident or near miss takes place, in line with statutory reporting requirements, in order for these to be dealt with and to enable us to identify where lessons can be learned.

If you have any questions in relation to Health and Safety in your role or in the workplace, you should raise these with your line manager in the first instance.

I hope you find this content useful.

Thank you
