Employee News 2020, Issue 49 - Smart Working 2020: Homeworking Principles

As we continue to deliver services in a variety of ways throughout COVID-19 recovery it is timely to reaffirm our Smart Working Principles in support of home working.

While some services have become operational, a large proportion of those who would usually deliver services within an office environment have continued to work remotely from home.

Our recovery planning is based on these arrangements continuing for now.

As many of you will be aware, the Council’s Smart working principles have been in place since 2012 with a number of employees already undertaking some of their duties away from the workplace or their normal work base.

Our well established principles of Smart Working have supported a flexible response at various times over the years but most recently and most significantly, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is recognised that our workforce will continue to be required to work from home more routinely in the coming months.

Our Smart Working 2020 section of the Employee Zone on the Council website now includes a section on Homeworking, including the Principles of Homeworking with helpful checklists and ‘How To’ Guides covering a number of areas for both employees working from home and managers supporting their teams.

We hope that these will be useful to all employees as we continue to deliver services remotely.  If you have any questions in relation to Homeworking, please discuss these with your line manager.

Thank you
