Employee News 2020, Issue 37 - COVID-19: Message to All Employees from the Corporate Management Team

Friday 08 May

It is fair to say that the global coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is the most challenging experience we have faced in a generation, impacting every aspect of our personal and working lives. It is certainly the most challenging situation that this Council has ever faced.

The ongoing UK-wide lockdown to control the spread and manage the impact of the pandemic, has resulted in dramatic changes to our service delivery and to the way that we continue to carry out our roles.

As the Corporate Management Team, we wanted to extend our thanks to each and every one of you for all that you are doing to ensure that the Council continues to deliver vital and essential services to our communities here in East Dunbartonshire, to keep them safe and well and receiving the care and services they need.

We do not under-estimate the significant efforts being made by you all. We understand the challenges faced by those of you on the frontline and the different challenges being faced by those of you that are having to work from home and those of you that are now undertaking different roles to those you carried out before coronavirus (COVID-19) impacted every aspect of Council service delivery.  We are all incredibly proud and hugely appreciative of the ‘can do’ attitude, the problem solving and resilience we see from across our workforce on a daily basis.

It has been said many times, but we would like to emphasise again that your health, safety and wellbeing is absolutely paramount. We continue to follow the Government and NHS guidance in relation to protecting our workforce, so please be assured that if you are carrying out any activities that require PPE as defined in the latest guidance, we will ensure that you have it.

We hope that you are taking care of yourselves and colleagues and that you are following the advice available on looking after yourselves which has been regularly issued and which is available on the Covid-19 page on the Hub and also on the new Employee Zone of the Council website: Coronavirus covid-19 Employees

In the coming weeks we will be planning for the next phase of managing the coronavirus, working through our management teams to identify how we can expand our services at such times as the restrictions begin to lift and the guidance changes as to what services can be delivered and how we can deliver them. We will of course keep you advised as these plans develop and the timescales for further change become clearer.

In the meantime, we would thank you all again and we hope that you and your families are staying safe and well.

Thank you
