Dr Marjory Primrose's 100th birthday

Provost Renwick, Dr Marjory Primrose and her sonProvost Gillian Renwick joined Dr Marjory Primrose and her family on Saturday 24 February to celebrate Dr Primrose’s special milestone birthday.

Born in Glasgow in 1924, Dr Primrose was evacuated to Auchterarder during the war. For almost all her long adult life she has lived in and around Kirkintilloch/ Lenzie. Prior to moving to Lilyburn Care Home she stayed for a short time with one of her sons in Staffordshire. She is proud to be in the middle of five generations of doctors, with her grandfather and dad before her and her son and grandson coming after her, all doctors.

Dr Primrose was a respected Opthalmologist and throughout her career she worked in Glasgow, Alloa, Stirling and from her home in East Dunbartonshire.  Her late husband David was also a doctor. The couple married on 26 June 1950 in Glasgow Clairmont Church and went on to have four sons.  Dr Primrose now has eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

As well as spending time with her family, Dr Primrose enjoys poetry and art and has participated in many exhibitions with her local group. Church fellowship has also been an important part of her life.

Provost Gillian Renwick said, “It was a pleasure to celebrate Marjory’s 100th birthday with her and I had a lovely afternoon meeting her family. I hope she enjoyed her very special day!”
