A Couple of Diamonds

The Depute Provost met with Mr and Mrs Box at the Lunch Club at the Evangelical Church in Bishopbriggs, where the couple were formerly helpers and are now members. As well as volunteering at the Lunch Club, Mrs Box served for many years at the Greenhouse Café at Kirkintilloch Baptist Church. She now assists her daughter at Church of Scotland Guild speaking events throughout Scotland.

Mr Box has also dedicated hours of his spare time to help the local community and received an East Dunbartonshire Community Champion Award for his work with East Dunbartonshire Foodbank. He’s a keen gardener and is a former winner of the Bishopbriggs Community Council Gardening Award too.

Depute Provost McDiarmid, said, “It was a great honour to represent the people of East Dunbartonshire when congratulating Mr and Mrs Box on their long and happy marriage, particularly as the couple have worked so hard to benefit our local communities. I wish them both the very best and I am sure they will enjoy their anniversary meal at the Oregano in Bishopbriggs, where they will be celebrating with friends, family and Deputy Lieutenant Ellen Gibson DL.”
