Consultation for Statement of Licensing Policy

This consultation closed on 18 September 2023. Thanks to everyone who took the time to read the information available and to engage with the process. All of the feedback will be used to inform the new Statement of Licensing Policy, which will be published by November 2023 and will apply until 2028 unless replaced by another Statement of Licensing Policy.

People, organisations and businesses are being given the opportunity to provide their views on a new Statement of Licensing Policy for the area.

East Dunbartonshire Licensing Board is required to publish a statement within 18 months of an ordinary election of councillors on how it aims to promote the five objectives contained within the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.

These are:

  • Preventing crime and disorder
  • Securing public safety
  • Preventing public nuisance
  • Protecting and improving public health
  • Protecting children and young people from harm.

An Issues Paper has been created to guide consultees through the main proposed changes of the Statement of Licensing Policy.  The Issues Paper, the Draft Statement of Licensing Policy and other relevant documentation are available from the Documents section of this webpage and at local libraries.

The closing date for comments is 18 September 2023.

Responses to the draft Statement of Licensing Policy can be emailed to liquor.licensing@eastdunbarton.gov.uk

Alternatively, they can be sent in writing to:

The Statement of Licensing Policy will be published by November 2023 and will apply until 2028 unless replaced by another Statement of Licensing Policy.
