Council's website one of best in Scotland

Better Connected 2013 logoIt has been announced today, Friday 1 March, that East Dunbartonshire Council’s website has been rated 4 stars in the 2013 Better Connected survey.

The Council is one of eight local authorities in Scotland to achieve the highest possible website rating following the 15th annual survey of all 433 UK local authority websites.

The website received positive reviewer feedback in relation to the improvements made to navigation over the last year, the excellent business section and the straightforward layout of information.

The annual survey identifies good practice in the development of local authority websites based on extensive evidence based research and tracked the performance and improvements of the EDC website using a team of experienced reviewers.  Their research included:

  • A main survey with 224 structured questions
  • Four short surveys on specific topics such as mobile access and digital engagement
  • Analysis of six additional sets of data (eg accessibility and benchmarking across the sector).
  • Feedback from website visitors

Leader of the Council, Rhondda Geekie said, “Over the last year a great deal of work has been carried out to improve our website, focusing on customer feedback to make changes that benefit our users.  The four star rating is positive recognition for this and I am delighted that customers have found the website easier to navigate and online services more accessible.

“We are well aware that digital technology is forever changing and we will continue to adapt and develop to ensure that we are providing online services that meet the needs of our users.”
