    Dorothy Mary McNaught, better known as Dot, was the centre of attention at Boclair Care Home as she celebrated her 100th birthday. Depute Provost Colette McDiarmid and Deputy Lord Lieutenant Maureen Cummings were among the guests who joined the party.

    Local amateur drama group, the Kirkintilloch Players, is celebrating 100 fun-filled years of performing for audiences through the decades.

    Provost Gillian Renwick joined The Players in Kirkintilloch Town Hall to help mark their centenary year and on behalf of the people of East Dunbartonshire she presented Vice President Lorna Campbell with a commemorative poster, showing a detailed chronology of all past performances up to the present day.

    The founder of Campsie Accordion and Fiddle Club, Billy Hutton, has been presented with a British Empire Medal (BEM) at a ceremony at East Dunbartonshire Council HQ. Billy received the BEM for services to Music and to the Community in Dunbartonshire, having founded and run the Campsie Accordion and Fiddle Club at the Glazert Country Hotel in Lennoxtown for 30 years.
