East Dunbartonshire Council provides a Household Waste Recycling
Centre site for the recycling and disposal of household and garden
waste. As well as recycling banks for paper, glass bottles and
jars, cans, car oil, batteries, textiles, wood, fridges and rubble
waste.
The site at Balmuildy Road Bishopbriggs is
open daily except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, 1 and 2 January.
Opening times vary between summer and winter. Please ring 0300 123
4510 for directions to the site and for current opening hours for
cars. Please visit our Recycling sites and rubbish
dumps on this website for more information.
Although the site is extremely well used it
does suffer from abuse by those seeking to dispose of trade or
commercial waste free of charge. Not only is this illegal but it
means that the Council tax payer is subsidising the profits of
private business by funding the cost of disposal of this type of
waste. The majority of this waste is delivered in commercial type
vans or trailers and we now intend to restrict access to these
types of vehicles outwith our busier periods.
Due to traffic management controls the Council
have introduced a time slot for vans and trailers.
