In late December 2010, East Dunbartonshire Council
(EDC), on behalf of the Campsie Fells Steering Group (CFSG),
commissioned URS Scott Wilson to undertake the following:-
- A Strategic Review of Access, Tourism &
Recreation, Marketing and Economic Development & Business
Support and develop a 10 Year Action Plan for the Campsie Fells
area;
- A Biodiversity Review and formulation of a 10
Year Biodiversity Action Plan for the Campsie Fells area.
The CFSG is a partnership
between EDC, Falkirk Council (FC), North Lanarkshire Council (NLC),
Stirling Council (SC), Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS) and
Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH). The CFSG is currently working
towards the goal of realising sustainable economic, social and
ecological development in the Campsie Fells region (subsequently
amended to be known as the Campsies incorporating the reconfigured
delineation area) and aims to achieve this through the delivery of
strategically significant projects and initiatives.
The CFSG partnership has
therefore been tasked with promoting, facilitating, co-ordinating
and directly delivering the Action Plan.
The following chapters
detailed in the appended report refer to the Strategic Review
findings and conclusions together with the action Plan
recommendations.
