The Local Government Elections of 3 May 2007 was the first
time that Proportional Representation was used to return local
councillors. The system used was the Single Transferable Vote (STV)
where voters expressed their preferences for all, some or one of
the candidates listed on the ballot paper.
This Council returned three elected members for each of its eight
multi-member wards. The data and process details are recorded below
