What is Community Planning?

Local authorities have a statutory duty of community planning under the Local Government in Scotland Act 2003.

Community Planning is about a range of local organisations working together to plan and provide for the wellbeing of their communities.

The main aims of Community Planning are:

  • to ensure that people and communities are genuinely engaged in the decisions made on public services which affect them
  • to improve the services provided by local service providers through closer more co-ordinated working
  • to help councils and their public sector partners collectively to identify the needs and views of individuals and communities and to assess how they can best be delivered

As a result of recent changes to Community Planning, our primary focus is aimed at delivering our local outcomes set out in our Single Outcome Agreement.
